Marks and Spencer Money (M&S Money) is warning the one million travellers who will be visiting family and friends abroad this Christmas to have adequate travel insurance before they set off.
Over a third of independent travellers, who are plan their own travel arrangements, will face a cancellation or delay during their trip. However,
research carried out by M&S Money found that 21 per cent of travellers will not be covered by their travel insurance policy in this instance, so it is essential to check the policy small print to see what it is covered.
The recent economic turmoil has resulted in the collapse of several travel companies, so travel insurance for the independent traveller is vital, but the study by M&S Money revealed that almost half of consumers didnt know what cover their travel insurance policy provided.
Many travel insurance companies do not provide protection against the collapse of an airline, said M&S Money, so it is important that travellers compare travel insurance policies to see what they're covered for.
