Norwich Union gets award for best insurance firm

The insurance firm Norwich Union has won a top award for the sixth year in a row.

The firm, which is part of Aviva and employs more than 6,000 people in the city, was named UK General Insurer of the Year by Insurance Times, a leading trade industry publication, for the sixth year running.

The award is voted for by insurance brokers . John Kitson, sales and marketing director, said staff were "thrilled" at the award. Mr Kitson said: "It is only fitting that in our last year as Norwich Union before changing to Aviva we are recognised for the excellent service and products that we offer. Likewise, as Aviva, we will be working harder than ever at being the best in the sector for brokers and our customers."

He added that brokers were the lifeblood of the insurance business so the award, decided in a vote by brokers, was especially gratifying.
