Insurance premiums for motorcycles are based on an individuals circumstances, say Churchill and this could be dependent on a number of influences.
Insurers may take into account a number of factors explained a spokesperson from Churchill and this includes which postcode the consumer lives in. "Postcodes are just one of many factors used when calculating an insurance premium," she commented.
According to figures from the Motorcycle Industry Association, 2007 saw the greatest increase in motorcycle, moped and scooter registrations in the past seven years.
Even though the spokeswoman from Churchill recognised that there wasnt a definitive reason as to why motorcycle registrations are on the increase, she suggested that it could be due to people commuting by bikes rather than cars because of the London congestion charge .
It has been claimed by the The Motorcycle Industry Association's SMART guide, that scooters reduce journey times in London by an average of 48 per cent.
