Drivers have been urged to stay calm on the road in order to avoid a crash and costly car insurance claim .
According to car insurance firm swiftcover.com, 12 per cent of Britons find driving to work to be the most stressful journey they undertake on a regular basis. Three-quarters of these cite problems with traffic as their main gripe.
In addition, trips cited as causing the blood to boil were driving to the supermarket and bank holiday trips on the UK road network.
But the car insurance provider states that some tricks can be employed to keep drivers' heads clear of road rage; such techniques include letting in fresh air, listening to the radio and sitting comfortably.
Craig Staniland, director of underwriting at swiftcover.com, comments: "Keeping your cool will avoid unnecessary incidents too. And in any event, make sure you are not paying over the odds on car insurance . There are some great deals to be had online in minutes."
Car insurance provider LV= recently revealed that one in then drivers do not keep a spare set of keys - a situation likely to raise stress levels if the existing ones are lost.
