With many people in the UK looking to book a holiday over the next few months, consumers are being urged to remember to take out travel insurance .
Sainsbury's Bank reports that approximately 12 million people will be looking for a holiday between Christmas and the end of February.
According to the firm, 28 per cent of those booking their trips during this time intend taking out travel insurance through their travel agent or the company they are arranging their holiday with.
However, Steve Johnson, head of Sainsbury's travel insurance, said that holiday cover should not be considered "merely an add-on".
"It may seem a little mundane, but it's worth remembering that shopping around for insurance is just as important as you could save yourself a considerable amount of money," he remarked.
Earlier research by the company found that 21.9 million people in the UK have chosen not to purchase at least one insurance product, with many suggesting that they are too expensive.
