There are concerns that many football fans heading to Germany may be putting themselves at unnecessary risk by failing to take out adequate insurance, reports an online insurance company.
It is predicted that as many as a third of those going to the World Cup will not have any travel insurance, according to the website insuresupermarket.
Richard Mason from the website says that there are a number of competitive deals available with some insurance companies offering cover for as little as £9.50.
He adds that all holidaymakers heading to Europe should replace their old E111 forms with a new card known as the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). He says this card can help reduce any medical costs you face and is a vital piece of paperwork for many insurance companies won't pay out if the claimant does not have one.
Urging football fans and tourists alike, he says it is vital to spare a few minutes to find a suitable insurance policy.
"Accidents do happen and making sure you have the correct cover only takes a few minutes and could save you a major headache.
"If the worst were to happen, and you needed to return to UK urgently for medical treatment, it could cost £8,000 for an air ambulance back, a cost that could compound any accident," he concluded.
