Homeowners could save money on their home insurance policy by installing a burglar alarm, advises a leading bank .
The advice follows research commissioned by HSBC that reveals almost three-quarters of Brits will get their neighbours to keep an eye on their home when they are away, yet less than half have got their own burglar alarm.
Commenting on the findings, Stephen Young from HSBC said that generally the public have become more security conscious.
However he added: "What householders may not realise is that other methods of security not only act as good deterrent against burglary but can also save money on home insurance premiums."
He also went on to explain how adopting further security measures such as getting approved locks for windows or joining a local approved neighbourhood watch scheme can also dramatically reduce your home insurance premiums by as much as 15 per cent.
